Wedding Day Logistics - English

The Big Day
As you already know, the civil cermemony will take place at 15:40 at the Town Hall of Aix-en-Provence.

Those who want to be with the groom are requested to meet in front of the town hall between 15:00-15:15. Those with the bride are meeting at the same time in front of the Cathedral of Aix-en-Provence (rue Gaston de Saporta) at the same time.

We’ll be uploading the locations of both meeting points on the wedding blog in the first week of June.

Gouter d’Honneur - roughly translates in to Tasting Of Honour (when in France…)

The civil eremony will only last 20 minutes, and so we have planned a small refreshment at the Place des Martyrs de La Resistance d’Aix-en-Provence (the old Place de l’Archeveché). The newly wed couple, our parents and witnesses will lead you to the (non-alcoholic) bar which is 5 minutes walk from the Town Hall.

Transport between Aix and Saint Bacchi (reception)

We’re aiming to make our wedding carbon neutral so that we can fly halfway across the world for our honeymoon and not feel guitly. If you don’t have a hire car, we’re going to be asking guests who do have cars to help out by giving lifts. If it turns out on the day that there are more guests than available spaces then there will be two options:
  1. Hire a taxi
  2. Take the bus
The bus option is suprisingly simple – take the 18:00 from Aix-en-Provenve to Jouques, where you’ll be met 45 mins later by volunteers who will take you the last 3km to Saint Bacchi.

Freedom of Speech Space (…because you’re still in France)
Before the cocktail aperetif (this one is alcaholic) and once all the guests are arrived,  the groom will launch a forty-five minute session in which all guests are invited to share a message to the newly-wed couple. The message can be in any artistic form and as we’re in France, creativity will be expected.

Returning from Bacchi
Drink driving is a national sport in France, so we’re helping to arrange taxis for guests back to your hotels. Max will help you arrange this in the days before the wedding, so that you can have a pre-arranged pick-up which should cost no more than EUR10 per person.
